First post to this forum, so thanks in advance. I'd appreciate any sage advice anyone might have on the following scenario.
Mac OSX.2.3
Under System Preferences/Internet & Network/Sharing/Firewall/New, I've enabled the preconfigured Gnutella/Limewire port 6346.
I'm running a wireless network over a cable modem using an Air Port base station, so I went into the Air Port Admin Utility/Port Mapping, and added port 6436 as a "Public Port".
From reading the posts this forum (very useful), I assume that I SHOULD now force my IP address to enable other users to upload.
So which one do I force: the "public" IP I get using DHCP from my ISP (confirmed by whatismyipaddress.com) , or do I force the "private" IP address (the 10.*.etc ) that my Airport is using to call my machine?
Perhaps it is worth mentioning that under System Preferences/Network, I am running on autopilot. That is to say that both my ISP and my Air Port config settings are set to DHCP, and I haven't chosen to manually add any addresses here.
