That's a pretty neat idea. It wouldn't work as well for uploads, because people very often will only want a portion of the file (and there's no easy way in advance to know how much is left; which is somewhat of a reason why occasionally you'll see a complete upload that isn't 100% progress). But for downloads that's a neat idea -- maybe in a tooltip instead of a column?
