The plug/socket icon has always looked like that atleast as long that I can remember and I have been using LW since its infancy in early 2001. The splash screen has however been changed to the one that are now even if I think it is getting a bit old too and should be changed. I thing there will be some GUI changes in the 3.0 release. To check which version you are currently running go to the Apple menu and select About LimeWire and your clients version number should be displayed.
