i have the same problem but i can't update my profile when i try to do waht you suggested THIS happens:

[tio@localhost tio]$ source .bashrc
bash: TMOUT: readonly variable
[tio@localhost tio]$ source .bash_profile
bash: TMOUT: readonly variable

what can i do?
