You could try using sending your friend a magnet-link via ICQ/AIM/MSN (although it might be a little bit complicated). The first problem with this is that you need direct access to the internet, - then you both have to use LimeWire. Third problem is, that you need the urn of one of the files you want to share with your friend.
Then send your friend a link like this:
magnet:?xt=urn:sha1:(urn of the file, you get this by doing a bitzi-lookup for the file in your Library: the urn is displayed somewhere in the displayed page)&dn=arbitrary_file_name_without_spaces_and_ot her_special_characters_so_you_don_t_need_special_u rl_encoding.mp3&xs=http://(your ip: get this from the connection tab, look for the Remote-IP header in the tool-tip for one of your connections):(your gnutella port, usually 6346)/uri-res/N2R?urn:sha1:(urn of the file)
complete magnet link will look like this:
magnet:?xt=urn:sha1:SSDFDSFLKSDJFSDSASDF&dn=arbitr ary.file.name&xs=http://10.0.0.1:6346/uri-res/N2R?urn:sha1:SSDFDSFLKSDJFSDSASDF
