I'm new to downloading DVD's and need some basics. I am getting a Pioneer DVD player (the store clerk said this was a good player for viewing downloaded CDV's).

What I need to know is do I need to download mpg, mpeg, avi? I don't know what the difference is between these. Also if I download VHS can it be played on the DVD player?

I read the faq's and didn't see anythng re this. Also any hints on getting children's movies without all the porn?
