Free Music I am new to limewire and I am all for file sharing. I was reading some discussions earlier and read quite a few interesting opinions. I read opinions about the R.I.A.A. and about how music should be free. I also read about the legality of file sharing.
Now, as a musician, I think major record labels are evil, artist screwing *******s who deserve to go bankrupt. I also believe that a lot of people are missing what really is at issue. Music dosen't come from a manufacturer. It dosen't come from your speakers. It comes from and through people. People make music. If you love music you should help support where it comes from. Go pay to see a live show. Maybe even [gasp!] buy a CD some time, preferably though the artist's website or off the stage at a show [not at Tower for god's sake].
I personally would love to see thousands of people interested in what I'm doing to the point that they spread it around the world via the internet. Maybe there would be some way I could financially profit from that. Maybe through t-shirt sales.
Finally, the R.I.A.A. and major labels don't want to prosecute you on behalf of the artists. They could care less about the artist. They want to keep the money making machine going. They want to keep their jobs. You've got them on the run and they feel it. They will become obselite soon enough. Remember, everyone who is between the artist and the listener is a middle man. They make most of the money. Who cares about them?
Peace,
