You most likely told LimeWire to not download .exe's at some point in the past. To reset this, go to your options (if OSX, at LimeWire -> Preferences, if anything else, at Tools -> Options), go to 'View', then 'Popups', check 'Revert To Default' and then hit OK or Apply.
