Not exatly. The search horizon is limited by the hosts/ultrapeers you are connected to. A search query is sent to all your host you are connected to and they send it to their hosts - this is done 7 times. The TTL (time to live) is set to seven because higher values arenīt reliable.
Of course you can limit the displayed results by hits, but this doesnīt affect the horizon itself.
