Crash, crash, crash! I am running LimeWire 3.8.6 and OS X 10.3.2 on a G4 Quicksilver 867 MHz with a cable modem.
LimeWire freezes, requiring a quit and restart, whenever:
- a corrupted file is detected. I get a dialog informing me that the file is corrupted, and asking whether I want to continue with the download. I click "no" and LimeWire freezes.
- whenever I put the computer to sleep. When I return to the computer and "wake it up," LimeWire is frozen.
Also, whenever I am running an application that needs to quit all currently running programs on the Mac (such as an installer), LimeWire refuses to quit. I must then quit LimeWire manually.
All these problems are consistent and reproducible. None are intermittent.
LimeWire is by far the most unstable program I have on my computer.
I won't upgrade to Pro, because reading the posts here indicates that LimeWire Pro is the same low-quality software as the free version, with the added ability to connect to more than four hosts. Who wants to shell out good money for an application with a long, long history of instability and virtually no hope of any real improvement?
