Corrupted Files. Lately, it seems that many long files terminate with a corrupted file message. After more then a day of downloading this is frusrating, to say the least.
It would seem to be useful to take a snapshot of a downloading file once per x minutes, so that when the probelm occurs only that portion loaded since the last snapshot need be discarded.
In addition, and if that's not possible: Unlike a program, a video clip might still be usible if there were a momentary defect in the file, so a bad frame or two could be tolerated. Given that, it might be okay if the program asked if the user wanted to go on when the coruption was discovered.
And as far as the cause of this: Sadly, too many people have no idea of where their incomplete folder is, yet share partial files and never delete them. Is it possible that this is the source of the coruption? If Limewire will attempt to share such a file the error will then propogate into many machines, making the problem worsen. |
