Hi guys
I've been trying to find out about malware for Macs for over a year, and have concluded it's is a really fuzzy topic--mostly rumours and FUD. Lots of people speculating on what *might* be, but in everyday use--nada.
The "first" OS X trojan turned out to be a "proof of concept" just to prove one could be written. (One of the guys involved in the original discussion gave his side of the story
here). Another was discussed a month or so ago

Still, like doing backups, practising safe surfing seems like a good idea. Our Windows friends have a lot of experience there, so it can't hurt to pay attention to what they say about firewalls and virus protection. I use Virex, but haven't found anything. Even though many still say OSX is virus free

Bottom line? Try to be prepared, but looks like the chances of the hard drive failing are greater.
cheers
