"How" you ask? You asked HOW to get it to be an ultrapeer more often.
I'm sure there is a more technical algorithm on what determines it. But I'll give my theory here anyway.
Example: I'm usually an ultrapeer. I went home from college for 3 weeks, and when i came back, my limewire made me a leaf. I messed around with it, but nothing helped. After putting all settings back to normal, I just left it on for for a few hours, and I guess it switched, because the next time I connected (after rebooting for a random software installation), it immediately gave me ultrapeer status and never went down to leaf again.

THEREFORE: Since you have a cable modem (higher bandwidth capability) I bet if you just leave it going a long time, or even up most of the time, then it will probably always become an ultrapeer. (Corrections welcome.) |
