it's probably you have a slow modem. a wireless modem could be the main problem as it tries to search for a connection since it's wireless and it's not connected to anything while a landline modem is always connected via a phone line. it's just like a cell phone and a home phone. you will always get interruptions and unclear signals with a cell phone and it depends on where you are, but a with a regular home phone, regardless of where you are, you will always get clear signals. so it's probably your wireless modem and your area. my friend who has wireless dsl, says his limewire connection varies. someday he will d/l at 15kb/s and someday he will d/l at 1 kb/s.
