Default Bearshare question - theater avi file problem

I used Bearshare in the past, but recently I could not seem to get the avi files to play in my theater. It would only show a Bearshare logo, and the name. I went and bought pro, but now the same thing is happening.

It seems that the files are downloading, but I cannot seem to open them anywhere on my computer.

I also use Etomi, and I can play my avi files in this program. But I prefer Bearshare because of the parential settings for my daughter.

Can anyone help?

I tried to download a older version (removed pro first from program files) but it seems to keep sending me back to the pro version.
I am on Windows xp
Thanks,
Rhonda

Delete it! It's a scam version of LimeWire!

The theater in BearShare is actually an embedded window on the Window Media
Player already on your computer. I find that the best approach is to disable
that theater feature and set BearShare to use an external player for previews.

Here's how to do it:
  • In BearShare, go to the View menu, then to Enable Views, and turn off the Theater.
  • go to Setup menu, pick Options and set "Preview/play in Theater" to Never.
  • Download and install Media Player Classic.
This player is much better at previewing incomplete files.

You may as well reinstall Pro and stick with it. We can also help you strengthen
it even further against spam and porn if you like.
