![]() My license expired, and I hate that new version of Bearshare. I was visiting the forum here and someone had posted a link to a little helper program to download onto your computer that would change the date in your system and allow Bearshare to work, and later the time in your computer would revert to the correct time. Would someone be so kind as to point me to that little BearShare fix? Thank you. |

![]() Okay, I downloaded both things, but my laptop switches the time back before my BS can open up. I've been a BS user for like 5 years and I am not kiddin', I miss it. Anyway, if I'm doing something wrong let me know. I installed the program from the link, then the Bstart thing. I opened the BStart thing first, then immediately open BS. By the time BS opens, the time has reverted back to current and I get the Internet Explorer page explaining there's no connection. I use AVG for virus protection, but I turned it off. Are my firewalls too tight? Is it anything like that? |

![]() what flavor of windoze are you using? how much ram, and how much free space on your HDD (hard disk drive) also, when was the last time you defragmented your system? I suspect that your system is perhaps slowed down by a fragmented HDD and because of that the bearstart utility is unable to successfully do its work... I've off and on seen the start utility fail to work and have noticed the odds of that happening to pretty much be 0 if my OS drive is freshly optimized...

![]() Forum members, I had been using Bearshare 5.2.5 forever. Yesterday when I opened it I was told that the program had expired. I could not find a new copy of that edition. I downloaded 5.7.2. When I open it and try to download I get a message that Bearshare has encountered a problem. No other explanation. This used to happen to me all the time with Bearshare 5.2.5 until I set port forwarding on my computer to port 14000. Never had the problem again. When I installed 5.7.2 I changed the port to 14000 under "connections." However, 5.7.2 keeps crashing. I just read about Bearshare from previous threads. I tried the last beta version and the utility but the utility wouldn't run. Is 5.7.2 unstable or is this something happening because of the events described in this thread? Any suggestions? subhuman51 |
