LimeWire hurting GNet? It has come to my attention that although LimeWire is taking advantage of READING the search results that BearShare sends out to determine if the server is busy, they are not SETTING these flags in the extended area. This prevents people from detecting if a LimeWire servent is busy or not, and therefore puts more load on BearShare users. It was apparently an intentional oversight, designed to improve the reliability and quality of downloads using LimeWire, at the expense of the BearShare servent. |

IT'S YOUR FAULT! Quote:
IT'S YOUR FAULT! Quit grabbing at straws, your world is out of control and you are freaking out because you are losing the ability to dictate over it. Here are the problems: You don't own Gnutella, you can't control Gnutella, there is no throne to sit on in Gnutella, Gnutella won't allow a dictator, and you just found out you really arn't god, so you have no choice but stomp your feet, jump up and down and hold your breath till everyone does what you want, your way. The solution: Look in the phone book under "Psychotherapists". You don't seem to get it, and you deny having a dictator, control freak, rule over everyone attitude, so you better get a appointment quick because we all see it from here. These forums are not about providing free psychotherapy to you, it's just a warning sign that trouble is ahead. If you were in person I assume it would be worse, I think we are getting only the tip of what you are like for real. How was your childhood? Were you abused? What was your dad like? Please lay down when answering. Please seek help, please make a Vinnie Net protocol and be on your way to complete and total control. (if you can figure out how to be compatable with your own protocols that is) Don't worry, be a happy dictator! (in your own little virtual bubble, please leave us alone) |

Re: IT'S YOUR FAULT! Hallo: it is not easy to defend Vinnie here, but also I feel you shot a little over the target also, if I may say so. His (Vinnies) attitude is for sure not the best *ahem* , but it is impossible for me to complain about the niveau of his posts and then 'lower' me down, down to exactly the same flaming style he did so often. I do not believe it is necessary to insult him, I can not see the sense in starting flame wars. If we do, nobody is helped, not us, not the gnutella community, and no newbie also. And I do not like, while reading threads, to sift out all the insults regardless the sides and my sympathies to harvest a little bit of information at last. I became a gnucleus user last week, and I have to admit that this decision consisted 20% out of unresolved issues and 70% dislike of his attitudes*, and his endless insulting. This was no joy for me, no cheap revenge, I pitied him for he wounded him all by himself. So, think, do you want to wound your point of view by insulting back? Please do not take this as offence, it is not meaned so! Greetings, and a lucky week! *You wonder about the missing 10%? Easy: Calculating was never my strongest side :-) |

I will try to calm down. Give it a day or two and it will all blow over. |

Vinnie, it seems, is just trying to bullshit LimeWire and other servants because LimeWire said on their website that his Bearscare had spyware. He said that LimeWire had something real nice coming their way. What was he gonna do? Take a break from his intensive firewall cracking classes and destroy LimeWire? Anyway, Vinnie can bullshit his way to the moon and not get a single issue solved. We're just trying to get things sorted out and Vinnie comes along. I guess he's starting to ease up on that. We should focus not on finger-pointing and flame wars, but solving the issues. And by the way, lies don't help either. Signing Off, Kirby |

Right... Yes, like the would-be Mussolini of the Gnutella world would apologize for anything. It's fine when *his* program screws others over, but should anyone stand in the way of his proprietary packets - beware! You know it's bad when all he can resort to it forum bombing! Note to CycloCide: you should collect all Vinnie's comments and send them to the abuse address of his ISP - maybe his webhost too! How about LimeWire and the others add a "Block BearShare" option just like they have for Mandragora and other trojans! ;-) BearShare Uber Ales! All hail the clan of the Cave Bear! (Insert Sycophantic comments by kutulus here...) Last edited by SRL; May 30th, 2001 at 03:29 PM. |

Whew i havent laughed that hard for a while.. I hope Limewire does block ALL connections from Bearshare because around 70%(very conserative estimate most likely higher) of ALL people on Gnutella use Bearshare. So go ahead block Bearshare lol theyll just shoot themselves in the foot. Anyways The Limewire thing isnt kewl because it puts there users at a advantage by offering them more content without allowing the user to see what the user on the other side is using. It discourages users from other programs from downloading off their users. Which is counter productive and isnt a good for the network. As for taking over gnutella some people here are really really stupid not to figure out why that would be a horrible thing to do. If someone took over gnet then that would create a centrali structe for people like the RIAA and MPAA to sue. So unless you want huge legal problems and to wrangle with multibillion dollar corporations no one is going to take over the network. And another thing there is a way to make your opinions be herd without being obscene, or making a *** of yourself. If anyone here wants to get any higher than flipping bugers i suggest you learn how to respect people even though you may not agree with there actions. what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty... |
