I´ve read so much crap about gnutella so I´ve stayed away from it but after trying it I must admit I´m impressed. In other P2P forums I´ve read stuff like "cant get any good speeds with gnutella", "cant find what I want" or just plain "gnutella is the worst" etc. etc. I´ve used fasttrack for years but for a long time been tired of all the fake files and also supporting evil companies like Sharman doesnt make it any better. (Eventho I´ve used the clean versions like Kazaalite, clean kazaa or diet Kazaa I was still a part in helping Sharman and the popularity of fasttrack by using it.)
So I started to look for a replacement....my first try was Blubster. Its great for mainstream music and the speeds are ok....but the GUI is ugly as hell and you cant download anything but music and also its very hard to find alternative music.
My next try was Ares. Great GUI (easy for an old Kazaa user like me lol) and fast searches....but the hashing takes forever and its not easy finding what you want. And when I did find it I very seldom could get a good speed IF the download started at all. A plus is that its completly clean IF you uncheck the navhelper box during intallation.
So after that I thought "what the heck, I´ll give gnutella a try". I tried Limewire first and I loved it! Great speeds, found almost all I wanted and it was possible for me to share a lot too. (Thats something that never worked very good for me in Kazaa....dont know why but all uploads stops after approx. 250kB.)
And things Ive read like "gnutella is the worst to download big files with" is not true either. But Limewire slowed down my computer a lot and the Java software is just plain slow overall.....plus the mp3 player in Limewire just dont work like it should. So a friend told me to try Bearshare and I must say its the best P2P software Ive ever tried! How anyone wants to continue to use Kazaa when Bearshare is so much better is beyond me. Of course I dont like the bundled "crap" that comes with bearshare, but atleast Bearshare will continue to work after I uninstall the adware/spyware. I wish I could afford Pro but thats just not an option for me right now.
Anyway, to finish this very long post, I just wanted to say thanks to the developers of Bearshare and keep up the great work!
