![]() The notion of image refers to the perceptions that people from various countries have about the world around them with all its constitutes. This image is a natural outcome of direct and indirect individual experiences which they acquire through different communicative interactions. In its international dimensions, this image becomes particularly important given its influence on the prevailing public opinion in terms of the various elements related to it. Starting from the fundamental relation between the stereotype and the shaping of public opinion, many countries have involved their institutions in investigating the image held about them around the world. The recent international events have made it all the more important to study the conceptual image held by the countries around the world about the Kingdom, the factors contributing to its development and the approached necessary for its improvement. This is what has prompted the Saudi Association for Media and Communication (SAMC) to devote Second Annual Communication Forum to investigating the conceptual image of the kingdom around the around the world. ![]() Multiculturalism breaks down a lot of barriers, but admitedly it's worked better some places than others. The troublemakers tend to be those that don't accept things & stereotype galore. And that applies to world events. It seems to be a blindness within them. It's certainly great to travel & not only speak the language & interact but to also understand the local & regional customs & cultures of countries of the world. It's one thing to communicate, it's another to fully understand the full meaning & implications of what's being communicated. I think I'll leave propaganda alone, that's an issue too big to discuss. |

![]() I have a big problem with the arabic intolerance. They expect that every tourist should respect their rules in their country, but they also want to live with their own rules in every other country in the world. Islamic teachers wear head-scarfs while educating our children in Germany, they have a lot of freedom. Where is our freedom when we visit Arabia? And I should mention all the maniacs which are throwing with bombs in the name of Allah. Osama bin Laden is from Saudi-Arabia and many from the money he needs too. I could write a book about my views about Arabia, but I make it short - f*ck you. ![]() Morgwen |
