What do I do Next

I would be very thankful for some assistance once a Program is dwnloaded.Its in the Library, has to be unzipped then what. I'm new
and would appreciate any help. Using Laptop. Pen 4 etc.
Im sorry if I have not got the name of the Title correct? Did not

If it is a complete installer, then find Setup file & open it. Many programs shared are not complete.

The "zip" files I've used are self installing. But as a suggestion, (and by no means do I know if this is the correct way of doing this), when I download a new program I go to My Computer, find Programs, and copy all the files into a new folder. Then I make a shortcut from the .exe file and place it on my Desktop. So far it seems to work.
If anyone out there is reading this thread and rolling your eyes because I'm mistaken and dumb, please feel free to let me know the correct way of loading programs. I always like to learn the "how to's".

If there is no setup program then that'll do. Only the smallest and most primitive programs
come without installers these days.

Aaron: Thank you for the response. It's comforting to know,occassionally my methodology is correct. I know very little anymore about how computers operate, but I don't fear them. Unfortunately this causes me some serious problems sometimes. But nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Besides, I feel very proud and satisfied when I can perform a task successfully or fix a problem on my own. It's what keeps me coming back.
