There have been a couple of highly embarrassing occasions in recent memory
when McAfee wrongly identified good software as worms and deleted them
unexpectedly. They quickly repair these bugs though, usually in a day or so.

Right now it should be safe, unless they goofed again and I haven't heard about it yet… ;]

i hope it doesnt say its bad because mcaffee never let me down before. the only thing it does for me is find real viruses. it just asks me if i will let a program use the internet and thats it. it never gave me a false alarm. and i hope it doesnt start.

It does so quite regularly so far, and instead of just warning you and letting
you decide what to do it just goes ahead and deletes perfectly good files,
leaving you to figure out afterward why your legit software suddenly vanished.

The thing is an overweight and badly written joke. You would be far better off
with the free version of AVG, which doesn't hog RAM and CPU with badly
written code, has never to date thrown a false positive, and lets you
decide what to do when it finds something.

mcaffee does let me deside. it says this application wants to access the internet and it gives me 4 choices allow this program, allow this program once, block access, and block access once. and it never gave a false alarm.

I expect that particular firewall may be a serious performance bottleneck, so
watch out for connection problems and memory overruns when things get busy.

The firewall itself doesn't delete programs unexpectedly.
That's a job reserved for antivirus software. ;]

Apparently it was deleted. If it was legitimate software deleted by mistake try
updating McAfee using it's built-in update feature, because they tend to fix
these problems quickly.
