BearShare Lite 5.2.5 - BearFlix???
 

I downloaded Bearshare 5.2.5 and when it is searching the video files it comes up with this thing above it, like a pop up, about bearflix?

It has the little bear logo then this -

"To optimize your video download experience, get BearFlix
BearFlix is a new FREE Video download software from BearShare. BearFlix has more videos and faster downloads."

Then BearFlix has the url in it.



What is the deal with this? And how do I stop it? Should I revert back to the previous version?

Yeah is this new crap legit? My friends mother has bearshare and i see some bearflix add... Or should i go bak to 5.2.1? (accidentally uninstalled ><)

I tried to go back to 5.2.1 but it wouldnt install it. And Im still worried bout these ads now.

It only does it with the movies, but still, for something that isnt supposed to have these "extras" its a bit of a worry....

Ok so as you know iMesh just bought BearShare. This means Bearshare Basic, Lite and PRO are soon going to be discontinued. Then if you want to download music you will have to get BearShare 6 which is basically iMesh with an orange paint job. The reason for this is that the RIAA sued BearShare but MPAA did not. So BearShare has just come up with BearFlix which is almost an exact copy of BearShare Lite because it has no bundled software. There is also a BearFlix PRO. The major difference between the BearShare and BearFlix is in BearFlix you can only download movies and images. I tested it myself I typed in famous artists and found no results that were audio format i.e. mp3 wma etc. I even searched music and only found music videos. This is BearShare's way of keeping their old program for all other search categories because the new BearShare 6 can only search for music. So within a few months you will need BearShare 6 for music and BearFlix for everything else. Or you could just swith to a different P2P.

If bearshare 6 could just search for music than they should just call it beartunes.

I downloaded it and installed BearFlix. It appeared to be a knockoff of BearShare but said nothing about BS. The website that you are brought to does not mention BS either. The BS website says nothing about BearFlix

The installed program looks like BS and acts like it. After a bit, I uninstalled it. I figure I better wait until I know more about it.

ok - so what are the real options? I used to have the lite version too - it got deleted when I had to reformat my harddrives - any idea of a 'good replacement'? anybody?

So will Limework work then? I just need a replacement to the lite bearshare - need it for 'sounds' and weird things like Anthems for foreign countries - haha - I know - weird - but sometimes I do travel videos for people and need that music -
