Need help on sharing

I was hoping some one could give me some tips on How to share my software, and movies? I know how to select files to share, but how do I make them sharable? For example how do I share games that I have that require the CD to play? Also how do I convert DVDs to avi, or other easily playable format for others to download. Everything I have downloaded and kept I share, but DVDs, and other software that I have, I haven't share, because I am not sure how to.
Also is there anyway to spped up, or lock the speed of my downloads?
