Bearshare Lite on Vista
 

Just got my new laptop today with Vista preinstalled. (also has McAfee Security)
trying to get Bearshare Lite to work, tried opening several ports on Mcafee and on my network but not a hope.
Just wont connect.

Any Ideas?

NTL might be blocking it, but try the old tried and true b25 version anyway. ;]

But its working on my other laptop

This is a Dell Inspiron 6400 on Vista (not working)
And my other laptop is a Dell Inspiron 6000 on XP SP2 (working)

No difference only OS and Security (6000 is on Kaspersky and 6400 on McAfee)

My internet connection goes to **** when bearshare is opened

Uninstall McAfee. I don't know if it is messing with bearshare or not but it is known to block LimeWire on Vista

He's right. McAfee is notoriously weak when you use strong software like BearShare or LimeWire.

... i feel silly for even asking since it was such an easy solution.
considering, i did everything to try and unblock it.
i just hope kaspersky on vista works ok

Hey,

Ive been using this version for some time and it doesnt seem to work on Vista. It says the version has expired and i did remember to use the other included icon "BearTest".

Any suggestions?
