BS 2.3.0 "great new interface" WTF??? So I decided to be joe stupid user and download Bearshare 2.3.0 since it said it has a "great new interface", yea right. Same old interface, same old program, some pull down menus added. Isn't that "great" ??? Used it for a while, then my ISP loses it's DNS server for a few hours. You know, when you can't get to yahoo.com but can still ping a server using a direct IP address. Meaning I had net access, just no DNS. So I quit out of BS and redialed just in case. No DNS, it's down. Makes me feel like I do when the power goes out. Talk about a net junkie! So being a silly stupid user, and being desperate, I started Bearshare back up figuring it can connect because it uses IP's and no DNS. Remember, I was pinging everything out there! What does it do? It first tries to load the bearshare web page in it's internal browser. Very important to me that I see his stupid ad for t-shirts. Commercialism at it's worst, shove crap in your face every time you use the program. BS can shove it. But no DNS, so no web page, YEA! No t-shirts! Now, looking in the hosts window, you would think everything is fine cause it stored some IP addreses from 10 minutes ago when I shut it off. NO WAY! What does the lame program do? It depends on public.bearshare.net server to give me some addresses. BUT I CAN'T GET THERE!! No DNS!! Did it save ANY hosts? NO! Real cool program. So I start up Gnucleus, NO PROBLEM! No ads, no browser crap, just a nice program. I say get on CNET and other places and vote this program DOWN! Someone is worrying more about their ads than the users. Also, Bearshare has 1 million downloads listed on this year old program. Now since every time a small little change is made, a new version is put out and Bearshare tells you to go upgrade and bugs you to death if you don't. Therefore it's more like 30,000 actual "users", still not bad for a year old program. But what other choice do you have? Gnucleus? Some of you need to get the word out for them. They need some marketing hype put out there. Download it three times to up the counter, post your thumbs up comments, do something. OK, so stupid user decides it's time to restart windows, a hourly ritual for us stupid users that get stuck at porno sites that do pop unders, pop overs, install spyware and crash all that cool java crap we don't really need. (I did choose to not install the spyware in bearshare, that took a zillion people screaming at him to get this change at install) So what happens next? I go eat and power up again. Bearshare starts up and shows me the bearshare home page. Something I just couldn't wait to see, since I just saw it and just love the animated banner you can't stop animation on. I almost threw up my lunch. VOTE IT DOWN! Why people think this is quality when there are much better programs available now is beyond me. Well, back to Gnucleus. It was a nice peek at a worthless program. Try it yourself, have a laugh! No wait! Don't give the download counter a bump! |
