Default Bearshare connecting question

Hey i got the bearshare 5.2 and i am wondering why sometimes
bearshare uses windows svchost to go on the internet? , also
what does the hostiles list mean and the list with the connections
table with all these ip addresses to connect to its got tons of ip addresses
to go to how does this server work?

it's a list of places not to connect to,
