Default Cannot find import? DLL may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version

Hello. This is my first post. First of all, great site. Lots of help here. And I'm looking for some. I keep getting an error message when I try to run the 5.1.0b25 that I downloaded in this thread.

ERROR:
Cannot find import? DLL may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version
File "BSidle.dll", error 126

Any ideas why this keeps happening?

try this....go to program files>bearshare test>db and delete all files with the word library in them...then try running BS again....

You might have lost some registry info or the DLL. Once in awhile you come across
a badly programmed security application like McAfee antivirus or the Microsoft
antispyware stuff.

If the file is missing from "C:\Program Files\BearShare" then reinstall it to the same
folder again and all your settings will still be in place.

I still can't get bearshare installed on my computer. I download the program, but when I try to install it takes me all the way through the install process and when I click FINISH I get that error. Any ideas?

What kind of security software do you have? Did you try turning it off?

When the installer asks whether to run BearShare, make sure that checkbox is cleared.

We need more info. Get BearDiag and post a report.

Thanks. Turned off my anti spyware while I installed and it worked! The little utility that changes the date to July 1 2005 still didn't work, but I changed it maually. Then I changed it back to normal. Will I have any problems?

Once you get it started it should work reliably.

If your copy of BearStart didn't work maybe you have a crippled version of Windows like Vista or
Media Center Edition. BearDiag would reveal that. The workaround for Vista is to adjust the
properties of BearStart so it will run in XP mode and logged in as an admin.

Don't know why bearstart didn't work...I'm running this with XP. Do you think I should still run a diag....it seems to ok right now.

It would be nice if things just worked instead of having to be worked around. ;]
