![]() Bearflix was running fine on Vista for the longest time, but now when I try to start it, it won't. I've uninstalled and reinstalled with the latest version, with a reg clean in between, and it still doesn't work. I can see the process start momentarily if I monitor processes in Task Manager, but it just starts up then goes away. No crash message of any kind, nothing written to the event logs. Thoughts? |

![]() Peerless is giving you the straight-shooter answer ! NEVER, EVER install the so-called BearShare 6.x.x It is commercial garbage and a total lie. And, if you try any other of the 5.x.x series version, other than that recommended by Peerless, and BearFlix pops up when you search for a movie, DO NOT CLICK ON IT ! NEVER ! ![]()

![]() hmmm...well when I've found myself in your shoes I would first uninstall the program (in your case a flavor of BearShare) then go into the registry and delete every reference to said program (yes, it can be a pain to look into every part of the registry to get every one of them)...then I would reinstall the program and then see if it worked...if that failed I would then back up all data and do a complete reformat and clean install of the OS... I've found that the amount of time to go beyond editing the registry in an attempt to fix an issue is usually greater than the time it takes to do a reformat and new install of an OS.... if you have Norton System Works then using one of the utilities to check for windows errors might solve your issue....its pretty damn good at finding and removing registry errors..I have never used a program like Registry Mechanic, so I can't give any recommendations beyond Norton's which I've used for years...

![]() Hi, I tried that Beta Version. It did not function properly so I deleted it.On this hacked Xp Pro I N-Lighted it or Nuked it issues abound.I will try that version on another machine with a fresh Install of Xp Pro Sp2 fully updated and see how it works.Going to have to control myself as I like to swap the cores of different BS versions get interesting results LOL! This version I use is a Nuked Hacked rewritten one I got years ago.Does work well.Hmm will check that one out again though. If the one I currently use seems to be the best will post a link for others to try it out. Will check my Backup DVDs and find the original Zip.Think I got this one on Emule and want to make sure it is credited to the right person. Also to make sure nothing sinister like back door Trojans and other nastys imbedded in the zip. |
