Default cleanest working Bearshare version?

no not Bearsharelite!!! obviously who ever owns Bearshare doesn't want that version used because I get continuous popups to upgrade and unlike Limewire where you can just click "upgrade later" you have to completely restart Bearsharelite to get it working that's bs what's the point of having Bearshare lite?
someone on here suggested a version they made
BearShare Pro v5.2.5.3 - CLEAN
can someone on here confirm that version is clean and safe?
I like Bearshare but I just want a free no hassle version thank you

Ursula made that statement recently...while she may be totally bonkers (and that's not meant as an insult...I'm pretty wacky myself ), I wouldn't necessarily doubt the veracity of her statement, even though it slightly contradicts the following post: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...sabotaged.html, or http://www.gnutellaforums.com/host-c...bearshare.html which gives the info needed and version to download.

I use that version if for no other reason that one can configure its options to force UltraPeer mode which makes it totally rock...IMHO it blows away any other gnutella client...

Hey, fellow loonies !

BONKERS is here !!!!!!!

Now, I am taking out 'special time' here from tagging my J.B. Lenoir and Leroy Carr collection, so let's have some respect, huh ???
It's a lot of work to get it all right !
LOL

Listen, mon.... You gotta have some faith, right ?

I 'compiled' (but did NOT create) the BS files and I most certainly am the only one who wrote the clear and concise 'install docs' for said files and then 'created' the .zip that has it all - with the bundled Hostiles list, as well, which is part of the reason why it is such a 'large' file... It is being shared by 10s and 10s of 1,000s of nice folks out there !

And, uh, no offence there Capt. P but you gotta be outta your skull to play with ANY app that needs to 'temporarily reset the system time and date'... Makes a whole hat-full-of progs go ape-sh¡t !!! Large-scale !

All due respect (too much in the eyes of some of the more prejudiced fools out there) to AW... BUT.............. NO SYSTEM CLOCK RESET FOR ME... NEVER !!!!

P, it's a totally clean 0 days thing with NO restrictions... The last really BIG Pro iteration.

Oh, my... Weird as it all was, Vinnie was ace, huh ?

Now, back to choosing the best version of Alabama Blues !!!

btw, Dewey Cox Rules !

p.s. What happened to my PHEX link and the
¡ disponible en español ! bit ???

Never trust a real musician to be a cleaning lady !!!

"..........I want to know just how much longer... how much more longer, I got to wait on you ? How Long ??? How long???

ah, ah.... How long, how much more long ...."

Ha Ha Ha Ha

Mercy, me... It's like Etta James ! So sweet to hear the REAL original stuff, eh ?

Hey, Peerless.... One for you...
J.B. Lenoir - Taxpayer Blues

and, don't worry, I am always looking for that special special 45 single by Kinky Friedman And His Texas Jewboys about the Swiss/German Insurance Cartel !!!

Phex the furriest & most cunning fox you ever wished for

What's the betting that some Sheila edits the above because they are ignorant of the FACT that Kink Friedman And His Texas Jewboys is/ARE a REAL group that have been around just slightly after Noah got into yachting in a big way ?

Hey ! It's real hard to get more Texa$$ than Kinky !

Well, of course, you could get a lot of [I]outside of town *******/I] and be a kind of arbusto, I suppose !

None of my software complains about the clock,
Which of your programs are doing that to you?

I know for a fact that Kaspersky's goes bonkers, quits and leaves one unprotected for a period of about 30 seconds before it restarts...

Vista really likes it. That's a joke.
Norton garbage often just causes a lock-up followed by the delightful CHKDSK, over and over again.
If running any part of Office 11 there are intermittent occasions when you will definitely experience a lock-up.
ZoneAlarm goes out of the zone many times.
Windows auto-update with 2k Pro and XP Home and Pro goes bananas about 1 in 5 goes. Especially with TEMP file holdings.
Adobe Reader and other Adobe programs auto-updates get as ugly as they can possibly be.
Who knows what else in the minor third-party apps world is whacked out?
Plus, it is a really brilliant way to effortlessly cause havoc with XP restore point functions.
Not what one would call, the answer to p2p.

All of those were dumped from my system long ago because they were
so bloated and flaky. I even have a smaller and faster replacement for
the Adobe PDF reader.

In fact, several of those are known for weakening network reliability while
any high performance P2P software is running.

you always have some come back don't you?

and it most always entails insulting another...this time you intimate that widely used programs are at fault...uh huh....now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the job of a software developer to make sure his/her product doesn't conflict with others?

you gonna suggest people use your hosts file again?? that thing is a piece of garbage that I suspect has other nefarious issues to top it off....

Not at all. I have long experience with all of those programs and their
companies and over the years they have all dropped off my shopping
list for the usual reasons like excessive bloat and increasing bug rates.

Most of those have also occasionally shown up as the cause of various
problems with networking and media software on all the tech support
sites and forums I've been to in the past decade or so. My blacklist is
bigger because I've been building it longer and I don't drop any that fall
to code bloat because that group never really come back from there.

If you are afraid of my HOSTS file you can use any of the others out
there, most of which are updated more frequently. I just provide it to
protect myself and friends from bad sites and don't really do much to it
except add to it once in awhile and sort it. All it does is block known
spam, scam and phishing sites I hear about on various security sites or
catch spamming any of my forums.

If you are having any problems carrying a large list on your system the
usual cause is the Windows service called "DNS Client". Since few
people need that one try disabling it and test to see if any of the
computers in your LAN have any problems with DNS lookups. If your
computer is alone then you don't need that service at all.
