Default want to download older version like 5.1

I'm new and looking for answers... I would like to download an older version like 5.2.5 for my new computer, which is vista ultimate. Each time I try to download an older version my virus software removes a Trojan from different websites and the program cant open or run. I don't like nor do I want to use the newer version of bearshare. Thanks in advance if you can help me I would appreciate it

Sounds like the spyware program McAffee is using is similar to Pestpatrol, which is an anti-p2p program. Not programmed to handle p2p programs. Have you considered using a different one. Chances are it will damage 'any' p2p program you use.

I'm not sure what you mean by "p2p", when I got the computer I got the 3 year package. Is there any way around this?? how can I find out if this file is harmful? Can I just disable my virus protection and download this program?

"P2P" means peer-to-peer, which is software designed to form networks
cooperatively with other computers running similar software.

Set your antivirus to inform you and ask permission before doing anything, then
try again. When it asks you about BearShare again, you should be able to tell it
to ignore BearShare from now on.
