Default bearshare and popup ads

I just installed the older beta version of bearshare 5 as suggested on this site because my previous version 5.2.5.1 hardly connects anymore. Anyway, I've noticed a couple of popup ads come up when I've started the beta version of bearshare and I was wondering if this is a known annoyance or is there a setting somewhere in the setup to shut it off.

Thanks,
Bob

You cannot shutt it of like that, you must patch your hostfile which is located normaly here:C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. To edit the host file you open it with notpad...Then you add all these lines here to the hosts file:

127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net #ban this common popup
127.0.0.1 media.fastclick.net #ban this common popup
127.0.0.1 sms.ac #ban this common hijacker popup

Then exit the hosts file, and click yes to save the changed hosts file!
I have tried it out and it's working...BearShare should not run when you do that ;-))

Thanks, that seems to do the trick. I guess that will also have a nice side benefit of preventing some web pages from loading ads too.
