confused about bareshare 9 and 5.x recently, I begin to use bearshare for fun, and I search some info about bearshare . I am confused about the different version about bearshare , bearshare 9 (the first site when I google bearshare ) and 5.x (many articles mention 5.x, and it exists really). Which is the bearshare's current version ? I install both versions of bearshare, but the UI and usage seems so different that I start to doubt that there are two groups of developer maintaining these software. One more thing confusing me is the listening port of bearshare 9. I just can't change the listening port, and I can't find out what the port it uses to communicate with other peers (I got fail to telnet all the ports it open...) Does it really work on gnutella network? The default port of gnutella client is 6346 or 6348, so that bearshare 5.x, but bearshare 9 isn't :/ thank u for responding. sincerely yours mingchen |
the new versions of bearshare are bugged....DON'T USE THEM! |

I read the previous discussion, bearshare seems to split from gnutella network, does it ? @_@. Or just the new version splits from gnutella only, the old version still works within gnutella network? mingchen |
Yes, you are correct. The latest working version connecting to Gnutella network is the one here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...-5-1-0b25.html The newer BearShare are not sharing through the Gnutella network. |
