How to delete a duplicate desktop icon for Gmail which I access through Google Chrome?


When I try to sign out (after finishing my work in gmail) I hit Ctrl + Alt +
Delete and then I click on SIGN OUT in the drop-down menu that pops up on screen.

Suddenly, all desktop icons show up, and I am asked to sign IN.

What's wrong with me?! Or is this some peculiar behaviour of modern technology?
