Angry Fake websites

Hi guys i'm a new user and i've just signed up to a website www.emule2005.com and paid £25 and all i appeared to get was Limewire and access to downloading other download software. As i understand limewire basic is free, but they also provide a support service, which i contacted today and chatted to someone. I was wondering whether anyone knew whether this website was authentic or not, i only realised there were scam sites after i visited the limewire message boards and by then i had already paid the money. This website i used claimed to give back the money within 7 days if the customer is not satisfied, so i need to find out soon to see if i can get some money back or not. I would appreciate anyone letting me know if they have any information as to the authenticity of this website.

Question What do they offer?

Bobble

I honestly don't know anything about this site, www.emule2005.com, but before you go any further ask yourself this question:

If they are directing me to download free software, which I can freely do for myself, then what are they selling me for my (hard earned) £25.00?

If, as I suspect, the answer is "nothing" then ask for a refund because the site is trying to scam you. And also, change your credit card details because you don't want to be billed in future for fictitious purchases.

Bobble, the simple fact is that LW Basic, like any other P2P software, allows you to download stuff from thousands of PCs, from around the world, owned or used by people like us. There is no central server or authority so no one can guarantee that you can download what you like when you like, e.g. movies or music. You can only get what other P2P users are willing to share when their PCs are on and only when that coincides with yours being on.

If anybody tells you different then they are lying.

The proper site for LimeWire Basic and LimeWire Pro, which cost $18.88 and you get six months worth of updates/upgrades, is here:

http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

NB: You don’t have to pay anyone to introduce you to LW Basic, it’s free.

Thanks for the reply! The website claims that i'm paying for online support where they give me advice about how to sort out problems i come across. but is that worth £25? and is that what limewire pro offers?? do you think this website seems legit because i was actually able to chat online to one of their technicians? i'm so confused.

the site is most likely a spam look at the ads.... 100% free legal music downloads blah, blah, blah... there is a member login wtf? It may not be a scam but you'll have a better chance of enjoying a free full prorams:

Limewire:
http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml and click free

Bearshare:
http://www.bearshare.com/downloads.htm and click free (free version includes ad-ware Save! and some I.E toolbar)

Phex:
http://www.phex.kouk.de/mambo/content/view/17/29/ and look under your O.S and click download

qtella (Linux/UNIX only):
http://qtella.sourceforge.net/downloads.php for LINUX go under stable and click qtella-0.6.5.tar.gz (533KB) UNIX is under unstable and so is windows enviroment

Shareaza:
http://www.shareaza.com/?id=download and click witch download is for you

Bobble

Please don't get taken in, you can can all the support you need right here and the other members (and I) do not charge for our advice.

LW Pro, on the other hand, does offer 6 months technical advice, as well as 6 months worth of updates/upgrades, for your $18.88 (under £10.00) but you get better advice here.

So whether you opt for LW Basic (free) or LW Pro (under £10) you can always come to this forum for advice.

As for the scam site, it can, for now, legitimately take your money and give you nothing back because, like so many people before you, you will find that the "so-called" technical help dosen't exist.

Thank you so much for all your help guys. I'm just so annoyed with myself for forking out £25 for nothing. This is such a useful information forum i just hope other people read the messages posted here before they hand over any cash in future.
Thanks again xxx
