Question Can Limewire run off of a CD?

Hi.

Does anyone know if it's possible to run Limewire from a CD? My son is away at school and not allowed to download programs on his laptop. He wants me to download limewire on a CD so he can download songs then transfer them to his Ipod.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

reading through the lines, it appears as if what you really want to do is this: download LW, burn it to a CD, then give said CD to your son so that he may install LW on his laptop...\

this is definitely possible...

if on the other hand your idea is to actually run LW from the CD, then no that is not possible as far as I know as LW is a program that must be installed into the OS...

Thanks. He won't be able to do it then. The laptops are school issue and they can't download anything to the OS so he thought he could run it off of the CD. Thanks, anyway. I appreciate your reply. Have a good night.

i know how to fix this...i have done it many times...

this worked on a comp at the hotel we were at the other day...chances are it just wont let you install anything because its a "limated account" , hers what you do...boot in safe mode (press F8 right after the bios cheac) log in as ADMINISTRATOR and create yourself an administrator account or give your old account admin privledges, set a password so the school cant change it back, login to your new account and install away! youl be watching porn on ur laptop in the classroom in no time!

if that dosent work possibley because they thot you would try this and they set a password on the ADMINISTRATOR account...simpley back up all the important stuff to floppies CD or flash stick , and format the drive and re install windows and set everything up the way YOU want it.

and dont forget to set the password hint to say ****OFF!!! when clicked.

There are very good reasons as to why the schools set up things like that.It is to safegaurd children. I as a parent and a grandparent are very glad they do things that way,I would not want my young grandchildren to be able to access just anything in school. If I ever found out that the school was not protecting them from the trash out here I would not take that lightly and they would not be happy having to deal with me over it either. Most all school computers are linked together somehow and they are protected by certain laws for the students protection. This is just my opinion but you are in school to learn and get an education, not download porn.I'm sure your parents would not tolerate it at home so why would the schools tolerate it there.?They will always be monitoring online activities to keep from getting sued,I seriously doubt that will ever change, which is as is should be. If you wonder where I get this info from My Daughter in law is a teacher. She has busted several students over her course of teaching trying to hack into the systems and gain pass words and such, and the parents were called in and the students were suspended. What you are suggesting is just not right. How would you feel if you were a parent and you sent your child to a nice school to get an education and found out that the only thingthey were learning was how to download crap they have no business downloading to start with, and your hard earned money is paying for that education? Think about this before you make such comments. That could be your Child that was on the 6 o clock news that was taken because they were able to get into chatrooms and a child molestor took advantage of them and lured them out and now they are missing or raped,or dead..

Thank you very much Becky for your reply. You are right on point. I wasn't sure how to answer the post b/c I couldn't beleive the suggestion. You are absoulutley correct about the school administration and why they monitor and block downloading.
