kk wen i first open up limwire basic this thing comes up sayin could not create registry key n then wen i try 2 download the skins it says magnet is not a registered protocol so it dont let me download ne skins and i dont no how 2 fix it?????

Have you got any anti spyware protection running, something like Spybot search and destroy (Teatimer). Also, where did you get your copy from. There are illegal copies out there and some are designed to ***** you over!!!!!!

Yes, I mean where did you get your copy of Limewire from. Also which version are you using?

As it's the Basic version firstly try downloading it again and then reinstalling it.

Second, what ISP are you using and which browser (Internet explorer, netscape, etc)

Do you have a firewall installed? If so which on. You may have answered this already(Sorry if you have :-( )

i did that n im using either mozilla firefox or internet explorer either 1 no i dont have any spyware things running

Firstly, if you are on a home PC get a firewall. This is very important. Without it your computer will be flooded with cra*p. If you are using a college or University link, then it could be that the sys admin is blocking Limewire.

Second, get Easy Cleaner from http://personal.inet.fi/business/ton...e.htm#download
and run the registry cleaner and unnessecary files options.

Third get some anti spyware, like Ad-aware from http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-...j=dl&tag=top5.

Try all this stuff, then, using the Add/Remove programme options, remove limewire, run the reg cleanre again. Then re-install. You will have to configure the firewall, but most will ask if you wish to give limewire access, just say yes.

If this doesn't work, over to someone else.........................

well it didnt work but what do u mean by the firewall im pretty sure its running?

I asked if you had a firewall but I thought you said no. Haven't got a clue as to why you are having problems then I'm afraid!!!
