Unhappy Help please

I have tried so many times to complete a film and it goes wrong i am getting very sad.
I have down loaded a film have it in my documents folder and have then put it through canopus and have then saved it
I have been told i then need to put it through tmpge and then nero but this is where i get confused can anyone please help i am going mad

I'm not sure why you would put it thru Canopus (except for playback from computer to TV.) That's for video capture. Most videos you downld you should be able to put it into Nero & Nero will do all the necessary conversion. If it's dvd's you want to burn, then you'd need Nero 6 or 7. Nero Burning rom does all you need.

A few more details about your set up would help. What burner you have, what version of Nero, what type of video file, etc.

I do want to be able to watch them on television as i would also like my childminding children to be able to watch them.
I use xvid films usually, them mpeg2 from canopus and i have nero 6 and tmpge dvd author.
I hope you can help as its doing my head in i have got the knack of downloading music to a fine art and also films up to canopus
if there is anyone else out there who could also advise i will be really grateful

if the film is in mpeg format, you can burn it to dvd using any dvd burning software and play the video files on your dvd player with no conversion required.

that's not really correct...DVD format is 48MHz, whilst mpeg is 44.1MHz..hence, conversion is needed.

it works on my dvd player without any conversion. i just burn the mpg files to a dvd-rw disc and put it in the dvd player then it displays the list of files then i press select and it plays the video.

I'm going to have to go with lime05 on this one..Mini DV is 48khz but DVD should be Mpeg2...I've made tons of DVD's with Toast
