In the Valle de San Felix, the purest water in Chile runs from 2 rivers, fed by 2 glaciers.

Water is a most precious resource, and wars will be fought for it.

Indigenous farmers use the water, there is no unemployment, and they provide the second largest source of income for the area.

Under the glaciers has been found a huge deposit of gold, silver and other minerals. To get at these, it would be necessary to break, to destroy the glaciers - something never conceived of in the history of the world - and to make 2 huge holes, each as big as a whole mountain, one for extraction and one for the mine's rubbish tip.

The project is called PASCUA LAMA. The company is called Barrick Gold.

The operation is planned by a multi-national company, one of whose members is George Bush Senior.

The Chilean Government has approved the project to start this year, 2006.

The only reason it hasn't started yet is because the farmers have got a temporary stay of execution.

If they destroy the glaciers, they will not just destroy the source of especially pure water, but they will permanently contaminate the 2 rivers so they will never again be fit for human or animal consumption because of the use of cyanide and sulphuric acid in the extraction process.

Every last gram of gold will go abroad to the multinational company and not one will be left with the people whose land it is. They will only be left with the poisoned water and the resulting illnesses.

The farmers have been fighting a long time for their land, but have been forbidden to make a TV appeal by a ban from the Ministry of the Interior.

Their only hope now of putting brakes on this project is to get help from international justice.

The world must know what is happening in Chile. The only place to start changing the world is from here.

Something to think about

Do you remember February 1993 when a young 3 yr old was taken from Liverpool, United Kingdom, by two 10-year-old boys.

Jamie Bulger walked away from his mother for only a second and Jon Venables took his hand and led him out of the mall with his friend Robert Thompson. They took Jamie on a walk for over 2 and a half miles, along the way stopping every now and again to torture the poor little boy who was crying constantly for his mummy.

Finally they stopped at a railway track where they brutally kicked him, threw stones at him, rubbed paint in his eyes and pushed batteries up his anus. It was actually worse than this . What these two boys did was so horrendous that Jamie's mother was forbidden to identify his body.

They then left his beaten small body on the tracks so a train could run him over to hide the mess they had created. These two boys, even being boys, understood what they did was wrong, hence trying to make it look like an accident.

This week Lady Justice Butler-Slosshas awarded the two boys anonymity for the rest of their lives when they leave custody with new identities. They will also leave early this year only serving just over half of their sentence. They are being relocated to Australia to live out the rest of their lives. (didn't think we were a convict settlement anymore)

They disgustingly and violently took Jamie's life away - in return they each get a new life.

Erm what did I say about independence from UK birdy? Perhaps a fight is in order if such animals can be let loose here. Perhaps we should give them some of the local treatment after their anonymity is found out.

What they do in UK is up to them but over here ... that's another story. We don't live under the UK's laws. The UK wanted to do nuclear testing in Australia 50 years ago. It seems like their attitude hasn't improved much toward Australia!

O' yes, do I remember that one-If i'm not mistaken they were supposed to be released on their 18th birthday. Both are sociopaths (Anti-social) lunatics. They are only going to be better this time around criminally. The thing that got me was they knew better, they knew what they were doing was wrong, and tried to cover it up, proves it. -- Why Austrailia? Shoot, why not here in U.S, geez theyd fit right in with our school massacre freaks! Anyhooo- Or maybe she (judge) just figured we have enough psychopaths on our hands.

Good one! Actually I made a mistake. UK did do nuclear bomb testing in australia. Ugh!!! Scientific research since showed it had a dramatic affect on the population in various means. Polluted milk, etc. Both cow's & 's milk.
