Missing codec? I need help with a DVD I've got, I try to play it on my windows media player but only the audio works not the visual. If someone has any helpful suggestions on what type of codec to download I'll be most grateful :). Mr. Inquisitive |
I believe that MS, in one of their upgrades, deleted the DVD codecs out of WMP, i.e. you could play DVDs on V8.0 and V9.0 but not V10.0 onwards. Try a different media player, such as VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ UK Bob PS. Although I have WMP V10.0 and I can play DVDs, I had to install several non-MS codec packs to put back what MS had deleted. If VLC doesn't work I will post a list of the codec packs I installed after I get home tonight. |
Hi UK bob, Thanks for the previous advice but do you know what MB wmp 10 is? because now i have to choose what download location to choose from. |
Hi Mr I All you have to do is choose the site with the flag (icon) that represents the country closest to where you are. UK Bob |
Thanks UK bob!!! you're a star - I've wanted this to happen for ages!!! thanks a million. |
I don't have a link but if google mPlayer, it works pretty good for almost everything I download. It's best to have multiple players for options when your usuals won't play a video. |
