Default Getting OS X up and running on an iMac G3 and using my Powerbook***4 to do so.

Hello,

I'd love some help on this one if anyone has a solution.

This is the scenerio. I have an PowerbookPC G4 and I want to load Tiger OSX 10.4 onto my older iMac slot loading G3 which uses OS 9.2 and has a CD drive and reads DVD's. What I've been doing up to this point and failing is I've been downloading torrents on my Powerbook (ie. OSX 10.4 iso's, retail, etc whatever I can find). Then I've tried burning them to CDR and DVDR using both Toast and Disc Utility and then when I put them in my iMac G3 drive they will read and open up but when I try to install the OSX it says the file that created it cannot be found. Is there a way around this. I've also tried it by restarting the iMac and holding down the C key while it opens.

So today I installed Limewire OS for Classic and downloaded some more OSX 10.4 zip files etc. and they show up as a white sheet of paper on my desktop and of course won't open up.

Help?? Or do I just have to go buy a Mac OSX 10.4 install disc?

Thanks,

Spiral Girl

Is OS/X even compatible with the G3 or G4?

I've never tried it on a G3, but it's supposed to be capable. OAH who uses OSX (10.3.9) on a G3 suggests he can't install 10.4 on his machine. I think I answered this "repeat" post somewhere else! The tips are hidden within.

Yep, it is compatible. I checked the Apple sites requirements for OSX 10.4 and my machine is shown.

I have a G3 and Tiger will not load on it. I know it should but I think my G3 has had it It certainly needs a doctor.

I see lotr has already said that
