Default British Law Does Not Protect It's Citizen's Internet Privacy

Dear Forum Members (especially UK ones)

Did you know that under current British legislation anyone can intercept your Internet communication and all they need is a belief, mistaken or otherwise, that you gave your permission.

Right now the EU is going to take the UK government to court over the UK's extremely deficient position.

Here's the URL to the story: BBC News - EU Commission takes UK to court over web privacy

I am glad that the EU is taking action because the UK government sees it's citizens as commodities that can be exploited by any business interest that may generate tax revenue.

You know, I am sick and tired of the UK government constantly selling out the British public for either political, financial, or whatever else rubbish thing that comes along.

It seems like only the EU can really protect UK citizens from some of the excesses of the UK government, regardless of it's political colour.

So, when you said, "No", which I interpreted as, "Yes", (because of my psychic impression and the fact that you didn't look as though you truly meant what you were saying), you granted me permission to intercept your private communications? In another context that would be described as "date r-ape".

Indeed, a lot of good can be said about the EU. For that matter, one could say much good about any country or union of states.. (Property crime was almost unheard of when the Taliban ruled Afg.)

I've noticed that nobody protests like the french. Perhaps it's because the leaders remember their citizens' peculiar history of disposing of bad rulers. I wonder if the UK would be different if the populace were considered citizens, rather than subjects. (Funny, it seems that many among our elected treat US citizens as their subjects. I hope today to vote some of them out of office.)

Alas, I am once again forced to vote against good ideas, formed into poorly-written proposed laws.

Unfortunately Blackhorse

The political classes treat us, the ordinary working people, like sheep to be sheared. The only things that our democratic system does is change the people that do the shearing.

Both our countries have fought in a war started by our politicians, both our countries have been brought to its knees by the financial shenanigans of the banks and now its the ordinary guys like us that have to pay with higher taxes and job losses, while most of the crooks who caused the problems are still in place doing what they do.

Life as a sheep sucks.

Funny, I just picked up a copy of A Nation of Sheep (by one of the co-authors of The Ugly American).
