i trued upgraded software it was HORABLE no picture editing and the button config sucked

You should put Windows 7 on it if you can get all the relevant drivers. It runs so much better. Vista is such a resource hog.

i didnt build this my friend sold to me my hp got old and didnt run well
im converting my old hp tower w the AC inside to 7 :)
as for vista ya it takes FOREVER to shut down defrag
but sure better my hp lappy w 994 gigs LOL

You know, I was thinking of purchasing a laptop or a netbook but I could not think of any reason to actually buy one (or the other).

i had a hp notbook bc i needed a backup when my other computer kept going to hell
and if u travel of course
notebook is SMALL external burner
this is laptop

i use it if my desktop goes out and/or as backup

Laptops are good for travel. And some have built in video or still cameras. And in some cases you can use the internet on the run depending on what services you obtain.
Though just check the custom laws of the countries you travel to if you do any international travel. I believe Japan for example will disallow any such equipment and will confiscate them. And China 'might' check for any photos that they consider were taken that is against their interests.
