Default US Secrets on P2P Network?

Dear Forum Members

I have just seen this unbelievable story that US secrets are available on the gnutella network and WikiLeaks got most of the stuff it's publishing from there.

If it's true, and I must admit I find it totally incredible, then how can the authorities prosecute WikiLeaks for leaking information that is publicly available?

Here's the story: WikiLeaks accused of tapping P2P for secret docs - The Register

I have previously read where USA service personnel have used gnutella network & their LW was accidentally inadvertently sharing secrets. This is one reason LW made several changes in how the program shares by default & how it shares documents. ie: I had read through some of the summaries of the proceedings the LW company had been facing over past 2-3 years.

(Sarcasm: I guess it's ok for russia, china, israel & usa to use their satellites to look into your backyard & even into your bathroom & bedroom windows. Secrets?)

The author doesn't seem to know how easy it is to not know who is sharing on a p-p network. If Wikileaks was looking for sources, I don't see how using p-p contradicts with their statement.
