Mother, five kids die in London house fire

A woman and five of her children were killed early Saturday in a house fire in northwest London, police said.
The victims were identified as 41-year-old Muna Elmufatish; daughters Hanin, 14, Basma, 13, and Amal, 9; and sons Mustafa, 5, and Yehya, 2,
Two others, believed to be the 51-year-old father and his 16-year-old daughter, escaped the blaze with burns to their bodies. The girl was in critical condition while the man was stable, police said, according to media reports.
Neighbors told SkyNewshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_11pxw.gif they awoke to the sound of several explosions before the fire, which gutted the semi-detached house. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44652556/ns/world_news-europe/?google_editors_picks=true#.Tn8nL-yHgf5

How's the gnutella file-sharing going crymomma? Which gnutella program did you say you use nowadays? :)

crymomma September 24th, 2011 04:08 PM

Not sure what your saying about,Which gnutella program i am using?

Lord of the Rings September 24th, 2011 04:42 PM

Yes, this is a gnutella network file-sharing forum. :) I presume you use a file-sharing program that is on the gnutella network may I ask? :)
Did you forget where you were? :D

crymomma September 24th, 2011 07:02 PM

I really don't use file sharing, just news stories. Is this a problem?

ukbobboy01 September 25th, 2011 09:41 AM

Crymomma

I hardly ever use my file sharing program any more, it's just not worth the problems that using a P2P app could stir up in the UK.

I, like you, like to look at world news because, whether we like it or not, we are all affected by it. For example, our western economies are flat lining and that has a direct affect on savers and pensioners (like me).

Also, I was watching something on BBC's world news about what the US congress was talking about last Thursday, which was to urge the US government not to completely pull the US army out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Also, how the Secretary of Defence is going to make budget cuts without damaging US defence capabilities. All pretty dry but interesting stuff.

Personally, I would like the US economy to pull itself out of this "bankers-made" recession so that the other western economies can follow. However, the US has to put regulation, and regulators, in place so that the bankers never again hold the US/world economy to ransom.

I remember once when i didn't know anything about file sharing, asked a question about it once on a forum, was told to Google it. At the time i only use a hand held browser, and my son had control over the PC. so file Sharing never concern me. I have a laptop now to do more things then before, and a friend teach me how to make my threads better. I would like to be part of this forum for my news stories, no matter what the news is.

ukbobboy01 September 25th, 2011 10:07 AM

Well Crymomma

Using a computer as a "learning tool", rather than just a games machine, gets my vote.

You see, because of computers and the Internet politicians find it more difficult to tell us lies, even though they still try. We are also more in tune with what is happening in other parts of the world, so we no longer have to depend on biased news reporting.

In fact, all in all, we are better informed and so can be better voters come election time.

Crymomma,

The main purpose of this forum is to share and discuss issues pertaining to the Gnutella network and p-p filesharing.

Your posts are in the right place, (the Lounge), where we go off-topic. It is one of my favorite places to visit; I thoroughly enjoy the humor, political commentary, and personal views from members the world over.

I have noticed that you often post news items without adding your own comments. Thus, I don't understand why you choose a particular story to share. The housefire mentioned above is a real tragedy, but the story is not unique. I would have appreciated your telling me why the story stood out to you or why anyone else here would be especially interested. After all, there was a lot of other news that day, some of which had a direct impact on me and/or other forum members.

The advantage we have here, as UK Bob mentioned, is that we can get beyond the headlines. Sometimes one of us knows more about the story than what is presented in the article. Someone in Europe might know something that my government or my news media does not reveal. We can also learn from one another's histories; my country's new idea may have already been tried elsewhere, and so we can be forwarned of possible untoward outcomes.

Don't just share the news, share your thoughts!

people can be really rude to me. How do you deal with people who are rude to you? from,PrincessPaige26

ukbobboy01 November 23rd, 2011 03:35 AM

Well PP26

I stop talking to people who are just rude for the sake of being rude, the only time I will ever speak to such people is if it is a requirement of my job. However, as I have recently retired I no longer talk to people I don't want to.

I know when i am not wanted on a forum. I came here to make a deference, If what i did was wrong before should have been told in a PM, not out in the open for people to read, its just like making a fool of me. that is the reason why i am not coming back to a forum that only want me to know about software. People did enjoy my news stories.

Blackhorse 70V November 23rd, 2011 10:25 AM

crymomma,

It seems to me that a mod sent you a PM after you first began posting here.

Everyone else replying to you has tried to encourage you to share your thoughts. I don't see how that makes a fool of you.

"that is the reason why i am not coming back to a forum that only want me to know about software". Among the many responses to your posts, I saw software mentioned only once.

ukbobboy01 November 23rd, 2011 11:35 AM

Crymomma

I have to agree with Blackhorse, no one expects you to be an expert on software, hardware or anything else. Whereas most of us share our computer related experiences we also share our life experiences as well, plus we also talk about world-wide news items.

Now I will say this, when others, such as myself, bring up a news story we also make a comment on it. When you bring up a news story you just do a "copy & paste" of a news article without any comment. And, I believe, this is what the mods are objecting to, not your news articles but your lack of comments on them.

That said, I still believe you are more than welcome to still contribute to the forum but it is just that you have to put a little more thought into what you are doing and why, rather than just copying and pasting news articles into the forum.

I hope you will think about my comments above and come back to the forum reinvigorated.

Both of you are right, yet i also said that i like to comment on a copy & paste news story after a person made the first comment on it. this is how a discussion will get started. I remember a time when using my browser that i made my own story without links on another forum because i didnt know how, members there will say to me links, links..i think to myself links this is my own news story from what i read. That forum never taught me the right way to make a thread. Right now on another forum i can make a thread and the member will often leave a comment and we will have a discussion about it.

Sleepless November 23rd, 2011 04:49 PM

Just for the record I did PM you long before it came out in public. I did hint at you to put a little more thought into your threads here.

You didn't even reply to the PM, where by if having replied, this could have easily been dealt with through PM. Instead you waited a few days and continued down the exact same path.

And no, simply copy/pasted news stories with a link are not welcomed here without any input from the original poster.

The reason for this is that if someone keeps doing it, then someone else might join in, and then someone else and so on and so on, until the lounge here is nothing but a copy/paste news site. If that was what we wanted for this forum then staff here could easily spend 10 minutes a day copy/pasting various random news stories from all around the net.

Is that your intention? A random news site that just happens to also have a file sharing forum?

If you want to portrait me as the bad guy here then fine with me. If you don't feel welcome, then fine, leave. If you choose to keep posting then please keep in mind that your posting methods need to change to including some input of your own in EVERY thread you make. If you are able to do this then you are quite welcomed to continue posting in this forum.

I could easily have sent this through PM, but the last time I got no indication that you even read it, so why bother. Might as well make it public for all the other would be copy/pasters.

Sincerely

Sleepless
