not able to connect Hi.. I just downloaded your program today.. the free version to try it out, and I cannot get a connection.. neither do I have any of the bottom of the page that will allow me to make any corrections... my page under the connections tab stops at "keep exactly _ connections up.... I am confused.. I have removed and reloaded the program twice.. Is there a fix for this?? Thanks, Terri |
the keep X connections up filed is only secondary to the number of connections. if you have a modem connection you won't be allowed to have more than 3 connections, DSL/Cable makes it 7 i believe and T1 and up like 10... i don't know the numbers for sure. this is due to network health which is very important for good downloads and search results. if you had a 'slow' modem connection and you had 10 connections to other noads on the network your bandwidth would not be great enough to handle searches and downloads as well. the result would be that you get bad search results and the rest/part of the network as well and you would have slow downloads. so if you can't connect you should try to go to the options and set your connections type to something higher. like DSL/Cable if you had a modem. now let it connect when you have got a number of connections go to the options again and set it back to modem or what ever you really have. then go to the keep X connections field and click in it and hit enter. it should now reduce your connections till you have about 3 left. now you can go ahead with searches... You should not set your connections speed to something higher than it really is for long. if you do it will slow down your connection. you will get more uploads more connections more everything and less fun. and it won't be fun for the other users as well. mahalo |
