Guide to getting LimeWire Pirate Edition to work :sos: :shoot: :bangh: Could someone please let out a step-by-step guide on how to get the program to work? I've tried several guides before, but never got LimeWire to connect even once! I've installed, deinstalled and reinstalled the Java, LimeWire and ConnectFix several times, but never can connect to a server! What do I have to do exactly? What versions of the softwares, which to install first, when to reboot or not, anything! Please leave a simple, easy to follow step-by-step guide, ok? I'm running on a 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 operative system. Thank you very much!!! |
1. For Windows 7 you need to set the Java to Run as Administrator. For some reason this affects LW's ability to connect. That's first thing you need to do. You can search your computer for java.exe and right-click it in the search result and choose that option or under the properties option. Alternative is to set the java installer to run as admin. 2. You need to add LW to your firewall exceptions. 3. If you have a fresh connection file then LW should be ok to connect. 4. If still cannot connect, then it might either be related to your connection devices or another security software on your computer. Or possibly issues with your ISP. So if the above do not solve your issue, post back http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-you-post.html |

The Windows version of LW 5 has a bug with Java 7, so you have a choice between using Java 6 without problems, or using Java 7 but with a shortcut to the LW java file. JRE version though I am not sure it matters. Also please note, if you are using the Java 7 64-bit, you should update the 32-bit Java last. There seems to be some kind of problem otherwise. |
