Limewire slows cable connection speed I'm on Comcast cable, using Limewire Pro 2.3.3 w/ Java. As soon as I connect my overall downstream speed slows from an average of 1100 kbps to 20-100 kbps. When I break the connection the speed stays slow, doesn't pick back up till I shut down Limewire. This doesn't occur with WinMX or other file-sharing apps. Any explanations, suggestions appreciated. |

Make sure you don't upload at full speed. Always leave at least 2-3k/sec (12-15k/sec if you are serving as an Ultrapeer) of your upstream unused by uploads. If your upstream is completely used up, your computer cannot sent the acknoledgement-packets fast enough to the hosts you are downloading from, so your download-speed will be reduced. |
