Can only connect to 3 servers Hello! Why can I only connect to 3 servers? If I want write down another number like e.g. 5, I get an error-message: "LimeWare does not allow you to maintain this many connections, as it creates excess traffic that clogs the network.". What can I do? With only 3 servers, I have not found any good songs. Bye, Martin |
There's no workaround for modem users.. |
Three servers is enough to get very good search results - if they are the right three servers. Check that the servers are all ultrapeers - if not, manually remove them (non-limewire peers usually show up as '0.6' - you don't want these). If your search results are still returning very few values then disconnect all the servers and reconnect (File|disconnect/connect). These will eventually settle down on a new set of servers that may well give you better results. If you really want lots of connections (but not necessarily better search results and almost certainly bad download speeds if you are on a slow connection) then set yourself up as an ultrapeer (you probably can't do this unless your connection is cable or better). Similar problem, but workaroundable I am able to set my "try to keep x connections up" variable to whatever I want, and after I do so Limewire does faithfully try to keep that many connections up. But when I launch the program initially, the number in that box is irrelevant, Limewire will only bring up three connections. If I highlight the 4 or 5 or whatever it is and then press Enter or Apply or Ok or whatever, then more connections will come up, but only if I manually reenter it every time. It isn't exactly a _problem_ , but it is something for you developers to be aware of, if you weren't already. |
