Roomies can connect but I cannot I've been very frustrated (since January actually) because I have not been able to connect to any programs allowing me to download other user's files. I've tried Macster, Napster, Mactella and most recently Limewire however in each occasion all connection attempts failed--in fact, no connection at all was ever made. I live in a new apartment complex (it is now a year old) which contains a single T1 internet connection to which all residents are allowed access. My two roommates both own PCs and, though using different software, are both able to download music. I own a Macintosh and until January was able to download using Mactella (and before that, Macster). Unfortunately since then I have not been able to determine why my computer will not connect while their's will. I was initially thinking programs such as Limewire were somehow being monitored by the apartment managers and access was being denied, however I don't see how this can be the case, lol unless they really have a sore elbow for Mac owners. If anyone has any suggestions, I would definitely appreciate the help! Thanks :) |
I guess your appartment managers blocking the gnutella host caches, LimeWire tries to connect to. - Other p2p-applications aren't as easily blocked as LimeWire. A workaround can be, to get a gnutella.net file for LimeWire (copy it into your LimeWire directory). You can download my latest gnutella.net with addresses of gnutella ultrapeers here: ftp://whitedragon.dyndns.org/gnutella.net |
Taliban--how do I post it in my directory? I have a connections window once Limewire is open, but I'm assuming that is not where your file goes. When I looked in the Limewire Folder on my desktop I didn't find a "directory" folder either (I also couldn't open the gnutella.net file). |
I mean the folder where your LimeWire.jar is located. |
Hey you've just made me one very happy girl...lol. So far I'm able to make connections...though the downloading itself seems to be a bit slow. I guess I just need to navigate the system a bit to figure everything out. Thanks again for your help ...I may come back and ask you a few more ???'s if I have any more problems. |
Ahhh! Now I cannot connect at all again. I was only successful in downloading one song before the program refused to make any additional connections in later attempts. What do I do? :( |
Try downloading another gnutella.net file. - Also you should check, that your gnutella.net file isn't empty (size = 0 bytes), since I heard that will cause connection problems. |
Where can I find other gnutella.net files? |
