I downloaded and installed limewire yet when i try to open it, nothing happens. I get the hourglass for a second then nothing. I checked the FAQ but all it said in regards to this problem is to make sure I am connected to the internet. Well obviously I am and it just wont work. Please help.

Why obviously?

It doesn't mean "do you have an internet connection?" It means "are you currently, at this moment connected and using the internet?"

Have you read through the forums to find a problem that sounds like it is the same as yours? Have you tried all the solutions suggested to those problems?

If the problem is genuinely unique to you then you will need to provide a lot more information for anyone to try and diagnose it:

What operating system?
What version of Java?
What version of LimeWire?
What internet connection?
Firewall/router?
Any other software running?
Any other details that just might, possibly, perhaps have some bearing on why LimeWire won't run on your system?

I have the same problem. Version 2.3.4 worked fine for me, but I recently downloaded the update to 2.4.4. When I try to launch the program, I get the hourglass for a second and nothing happens. I am always connected to the internet because I have a cable modem through Comcast. My internet connection works fine. My java version is 1.4. I performed the gnutella check through the run menu and it said "gnutella ok". I am running Windows XP. I have had to resort back to using 2.3.4 because it still works just fine. I would like to know what is causing this error in the newest version of Limewire.
